Do high school bands generally have a piccolo?

I am thinking about joining the symphonic band at my school. I want to play piccolo because i prefer it to flute and my piccolo is much nice than my flute. Do bands generally have a piccolo part for every song. Is there usually a person who only plays piccolo?
