Why does piccolo from dragon ball z look older than his age?

king picolo vomited an egg holding his final child right before his death at the hands of a young goku. the egg held baby piccolo and since piccolo is a namekian (alien planet in dragonball z) he seems a lot older than he is considering he was born near the end of the original dragonball sereis before DBZ
